Dr. Heber Cyrus Snell was born on January 16, 1883 in Spanish Fork to Rufus P. and Ellen C. Snell. He married Hedwig E. Stauffer on September 6, 1905 in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. Hedwig died on June 8, 1945 in Pocatello, Idaho. Snell later married Phoebe Linford Rees on June 23, 1947. Snell served an LDS mission in Chicago, and attended Brigham Young University, graduating in 1912. McKay building began in 1952 after an evaluation by the Brigham Young University College of Education concluded that the existing building for the College of Education were no longer meeting the growing needs of the program.
